Apparently I made a lot of patterns over the past 100 days! Here are 100 little images. Probably 85 or more are completed(ish) patterns and the rest are filled in with elements that will become patterns or are patterns in progress. This is my third time doing and I love it! It’s so good to help you get started if you’re having trouble getting yourself to make art (or whatever) regularly or to dive deep into one topic or theme or material or technique! I’ve loved doing these patterns over the past 100 days and I have no plans to stop. But now, instead of making new ones every day, I’m going to revisit my favorites, tweak them and turn them into collections. If anyone out there wants to license any or commission any illustrations or patterns, you know where to find...

Another cicada pattern. This started out with @smcnabstudio’s @skillshare class on creating a linear toss pattern, but then it got a crazy background.

These flowers are just one small part of another big complex pattern I have in the works, but I’m going to try to get back to posting one a day, even if it’s made of just pieces of the overall patterns I’m working on. I’m getting too caught up in the tiny details of editing the individual elements and losing sight of the bigger plan, which was to learn more and get better at pattern design. It’s not to get lost in tiny details in photoshop and illustrator. I think there’s a metaphor in there...

I keep forgetting to go to bed. Separating elements to be used in my next #patterndesign. Lizard, mantis, leaves…not pictured, giant cicada.

Still working on and off on this one. Needs to be simplified and needs some more balance. I want the vertical lines, but there is a very strong implied horizontal line that I want to get rid of.

I’m getting this cicada giant ready to be part of a tonight. What about you?

My obsessive nature hasn’t allowed me to take a break from this one like I planned. Here, finally, is a repeat with all the leaves but just one of the women. I think I like it…but stay tuned to see the other one creep back...

Here’s what it looks like when you are building the most complicated repeat and you’ve tried and deleted 872 versions and are finally getting somewhere. Maybe.

Only got to spend a few minutes on this one today before my Apple Pencil died and I’m too tired to wait for it to recharge. Picture a pattern of leaves and vines with these two pretty women tangled up in them. That’s the plan, at least. Patterns often end up going in unexpected...
