Throwback (super early) Thursday to one of the first pieces I made in grad school at @scaddotedu after I switched my focus from painting to fibers. Block printed patterns inside masked off shapes form this bound figure. One of the very first repeat patterns I ever did, with little figures inside the larger one. Interesting story about this piece… I met a pastor of a local church at the coffee shop and he told me that was passing my house and saw this piece hanging in the window and kept coming by to look at it. He wrote about it in his theological doctorate thesis. Many interesting conversations between this atheist jew and a baptist pastor ensued. I still think believing in any religion is crazy and he probably thinks I’m going to hell, but we still had some good chats over...
